MY STORY
Simon Vay, a Belgian singer-songwriter with a passion for surfing and music. With his acoustic indie folk pop, he creates a chilled atmosphere in his live performances. After a trip around the world in 2023 a lot of inspiration was found to write new music.
The final phase of recording his debut EP has come to an end. The band recorded their parts in the studio, bringing a more vibrant, live feel. Featuring tracks such as 'Burn the Boats', 'Glow', 'Space Engineer' and 'Big Swim' on the EP, there's an overall laid-back summer vibe.
Collaborating with esteemed producers and musicians such as Bert Gielen, Tom Vanstiphout, and Steven Vergauwen has been an absolute godsend for me.

"Burn the Boats" is a co-write by Arne Van Haecke, Steven Vergauwen. The song describes a relationship on the edge of breaking apart. She is telling him to move on, yet she has her own issues and is struggling of letting go of the past. The mention of "burning the boats" is a commitment to moving forward and not looking back. Overall, the lyrics convey a mix of emotions related to freedom, commitment, and the desire to find one's way.
GLOW

"Glow" was inspired by a journey through Australia, describing the feeling of being together with no one else around. The fingerstyle picking guitar gives the song a laidback feel, as if you were driving around while the sun is setting behind the horizon.
After meeting with Tom Vanstiphout, we adapted the song to with it is now. Working together with Tom was an absolute blessing for me. The song has been with me for a while, and I'm excited to share it with all of you.
